Under Armour has started producing a new line of running shoes to raise the competition in the field along with Adidas and Nike. These shoes are called HOVR. These shoes are mainly known for their foam which provides comfort and gives back energy. Under Armour used this technology for the first time to produce UA HOVR Phantom and UA HOVR Sonic in the beginning of 2018. Under Armour’s trust and people’s interest of this technology made Under Armour continue to use it more. Under Armour produced more HOVR shoes and for different sports such as Basketball. On the second of October of 2018, I ordered from, Under Armour website*, UA HOVR CGR Connected.
I bought UA HOVR CGR Connected for daily use despite the fact that this shoe is a running shoes. The name of the shoe is full symbols which make the name a little pit mysterious, but every symbol has a meaning. UA is the initials of Under Armour, and HOVR is the technology described above. However, CGR is a unique technology to this shoe, and it goes by the name of Coldgear Reactor. This technology lowers the temperature degree of the foot while running. Finally, the word Connected refers to a tracking technology to provide information such as period or speed of the run, in addition to number of the steps. This technology doesn’t require any additional step. According to this technology, I covered a distance of 94 km with 117,168 steps wearing the shoes. In case a customer doesn’t want Connected technology, Under Armour sell the shoe without it for a lower price.
Besides all of these technologies, Under Armour did not stop on this limit. UA HOVR CGR is light and weighs only 332 gram, plus it keeps the feet dry even while wearing under the rain or above a wet ground. Furthermore, UA added the Michelin rubber outsole to provide durability and better grip.
All of that is good to talk about, but UA HOVR CGR is that good?
After wearing UA HOVR CGR this long, I cannot say yes absolutely because of some issues. I noticed the first issue on first time I wore the shoes. I noticed the size of the shoes is smaller than it should be despite it’s the same size I always wear, but it’s still wearable. Therefore, I recommend buying a bigger size. Second, the solid part in the back is easily scratched, which ruins the good look. As for the worst point of the shoe, the shoe sometimes get so hot on my foot, especially after long period of wearing.
Despite the negative points above, UA HOVR CGR is as described. it is so light that I don’t get tired of it, and it’s so comfortable even after wearing for a half or full day. With running, I haven’t felt any issue such as slipping, twisting foot or hard ground. I’m wearing the shoes with happiness.
